Concrete Repair & Refurbishment
Having been involved in concrete repair since it was founded in 1973, CFB have a vast depth of experience in the field and although now quite diversified the process still probably accounts for 50% of its turnover.
Ensuring that we have kept pace with the technological advancement in repair techniques the company can provide both, the basic removal and repair of defective concrete, as well as the more modern techniques such as Hydrodemolition (removal of concrete using very high pressure water jetting), Structural Strengthening (Composites), Cathodic Protection and the use of highly specialised materials such as Fluid Micro Concrete, and Self Compacting Concretes to achieve the right results.
CFB provide a total refurbishment service to the highest quality standards, European standards, and the clients specific requirements for all types of concrete structures or members. We have carried out works on structures ranging from simple window lintels through multi-storey car parks to large motorway bridges.
Cathodic Protection is an electrochemical technique used in conjunction with Concrete Repair for structures suffering from high chloride content within the concrete. By reducing the chloride content using an anode the life expectancy of concrete structures can be greatly enhanced. CFB offer a full design and installation service for Cathodic Protection utilising the full range of anode types available.

Structural Waterproofing
The ingress of water into concrete and masonry structures will have a detrimental effect on the durability and usefulness of that structure. CFB have for years provided a range of structural waterproofing solutions designed to protect structures from this ingress.
Applications include tanking, both internal and external, leak sealing, joint and crack waterproofing and coatings and membrane systems. Project range from lift pits and basements up to large multi-storey car park structures and water retaining structures.

Grouting
Grouting is a generic term and can be applied to a range of different techniques. Grouting involves the filling of voids, both large and small, around or beneath objects with various different materials. Our highly experienced grouting crews have been called upon to tackle most of these different techniques over the years being involved in anything from base plate grouting on theme park rides to consolidation of bridges and embankments and bulk filling of large voids.

Specialist Civil Engineering
As its range of specialist techniques developed and following requests from local authority clients CFB have in the last few years started to carry out small to medium sized multidisciplinary civil engineering projects. These projects usually involve many of the company’s traditional work areas as well as general civil/building works.
CFB have acted as principle contractor, successfully completing projects ranging in value from £20,000 – £500,000. These have included Refurbishment of Bridges and Multi-storey car parks, Reconstruction of reinforced concrete retaining structures, Replacement of damaged Pre-cast, Prestressed concrete bridge beams, and replacement of bridge bearings.
Our project management team possess many years experience in building and civil engineering as well as all the necessary planning and co-ordination skills required to guide these projects to successful completion for both the client and the company. Our Health and Safety systems have passed the stringent CHAS criteria and the company takes the safety of its workforce and the general public as its No 1 priority.

Building Refurbishment
Listed, historic, old or even in some cases new buildings regularly require refurbishment as part of their normal life cycle or when they change owners or use. Our refurbishment division pride themselves in their ability to manage and complete the sympathetic rejuvenation of all types of building using our range of specialist processes alongside the more traditional methods.

Target Fixing Systems
The company is an approved installer for Target Fixings Ltd who manufacture an innovative range of construction solution for the strengthening of Masonry structures as well as a helical piling system which can be used in a wide range of situations.
CFB have utilised the system on a wide range of projects creating brick beams to remedy failed lintels, stitching cracks and pinning masonry. The high tensile strength of the stainless steel helical bar coupled with the superior bonding characteristics of the bar and the surrounding grout ensure the target systems provide better load and performance characteristics to alternative standard reinforcing materials.

Site Investigation, Testing & Monitoring
Our testing division carry out surveys on structures from simple visual surveys through to extensive destructive and non-destructive testing and monitoring. The company through its connections with accredited testing laboratories can provide in depth analysis and reports on the condition of structures or materials incorporated in structures and where required propose effective repair strategies to remedy any problems.
In conjunction with our Cathodic Protection division we provide monitoring of installations including reports both on a visiting basis or via High Tech Modem links to the site based data logging equipment. We can provide monitoring for Load, Stress, movement or Corrosion on this basis.
Testing & Monitoring services offered, include :- Chloride & Cement content, Sounding Surveys, Rebar Surveys, Half Cell Potential, Pull off Tests, Wall Tie Survey, direct and remote data logging to record corrosion, stress, and movement of structures.
