Client: Bristol City Council
Main Contractor: Alun Griffiths (Contractors) LTD
Project Value: £1,100,000
Date Completed: March 2022
CFB were approached by Alun Griffiths to carry out some work on West End multi story car park in Bristol. This job included numerous different repairs such as deck repairs, soffit repairs, movement joint repairs, fascia repairs and beam repairs of all different sizes. As you
can see from the photos to the left some of the repairs were huge and were all broken out by hand by the fantastic team at CFB. This job consisted of over 950 conctrete repairs of all different shapes and sizes calculating in over 980m² across 7 floors of the building. This was a very tough job which required a range of different skills in order to complete it. The process for all deck repairs were the same the concrete would be broken out by hand with a breaker, which was the same for soffit, fascia, beam and joint repairs. Then steel would be added if the repair required it and then tied together, following this the CFB team would tie anodes to the steel to increase the quality of the repair, then all of the concrete and the steel would be primed ready to be reinstated, then finally the team would reinstate the repair with repair concrete or mortar.
The image you can see here on the right is the reinstating of a beam. This was the most complex repair that was done by the
team on this job. As you can see a lot of planning went into this repair to ensure that it went as smoothly as possible and that we
got the best results. A carpenter who was working with the team on this job made shuttering to be installed around where the repair
was going to be reinstated and then this was propped up by the propping that you can see in the photo. There was then holes in
the top of the shuttering for the repair concrete to be poured into as you can see by one of the team in the photo. Although this was
a very difficult job which provided lots of different challenges the results were fantastic, as a result of our high standards and work
ethic throughout the job both the main contractor and the client were very satisfied with the job and CFB have worked with both
parties on other projects since.
