Client: Amber Valley Housing Ltd
Consultant: McLean Associates
Contractor & Anchor Installer: Churchman, Fenner & Brown Ltd
Project Specification:
This 2m high boundary wall extends some 50m behind four bungalows. Retaining to its full height the wall was exhibiting signs of stress cracking and had rotated enough out of vertical to cause concern to the local elderly residents. Remedial work was required to repair the cracks and anchors were needed to stabilise the wall from further rotational movement and potential collapse.
Solution:
The main contractor carried out all site works including the joint repair and installation of internal reinforcement bars into the wall. Stress cracks were identified and stitched. 95mm Ø core holes were cut through the wall on calculated centres and anchors were installed, 15º below the horizontal, to a depth of 5.5m. Each anchor was then proof tested and locked off against the wall face using a load plate, recessed wedge grip and smooth domed cap. Anchor installation was designed and indemnified through Platipus . Working within the restrictions of the garden area all works had to be ® completed using lightweight hand held equipment.
Anchor System: S08EB aluminium bronze anchor c/w 7m of 8mm Ø stainless steel wire tendon, 200mm x 200mm stainless steel load plate, tilt washer, stainless steel recessed wedge grip & domed cap.
