As part of our ever-growing portfolio, we’ve spent the last four months transforming a once unliveable cottage into a beautiful, functional home. What began as a property in desperate need of attention has now undergone a complete refurbishment and redesign.
On the ground floor, we added a spacious laundry room just off the kitchen, along with a full cloakroom that includes a shower. The entire house has been rewired, replumbed, and fitted with a brand-new boiler to ensure it’s as efficient and comfortable as it is stylish.
Wherever possible, we retained the cottage’s original character. The authentic fireplaces have been carefully preserved, and original wooden beams remain a feature of the kitchen. Throughout, we’ve worked to maintain traditional styling so that the “bones” of the building remain intact, while blending seamlessly with its modern upgrades.
The garden presented one of the biggest challenges, as the property sits on a steep hillside. To make the space practical and inviting, we created three tiers using retaining sleeper walls and sandstone finishes. Bespoke staircases were designed and installed to provide access to every level, giving the garden structure and style. From the third bedroom, French doors now open onto a private patio that enjoys sunlight all day long.
Inside, the kitchen installation is underway and will bring a fresh, contemporary feel while still complementing the cottage’s rustic features. Both bathrooms have been completely refurbished, blending modern comfort with timeless charm.
For added peace of mind, structural improvements were also carried out, including crack stitching to the exterior walls, followed by a full exterior refurbishment.
The result is a charming, fully modernised home — with history and character carefully preserved. Completed in just six months, this project was put on the market, sold in 6 weeks and ready for its next chapter.
