CFB were contracted to provide support for the Great Conservatory at the 2017 RHS Chatsworth Flower Show. The Great Conservatory, a representative of Paxton’s Original Great Conservatory formed the centrepiece of the show and CFB were asked to provide a solution for anchoring both the main support structure and the inflatable outer double skinned enclosure.
CFB chose Platipus Earth Anchors to provide the holding down force required to secure the structure. For the main structure a total of 16 No Platipus type B10 anchors were driven vertically to a depth of 4m and each proof loaded to 9 tonnes before being fitted with an eye for connection to the support structure.
A combination of approximately 70 No Platipus Type B4 and Type S8 anchors were installed around the perimeter of The main inflatable Conservatory. The anchors were installed vertically to a depth of between 4m and 6m and proof loaded to 5 Tonnes and 2 Tonnes respectively. The Anchors were left with eyes for subsequent connection of the inflatables straps and guy ropes.
All anchors were recessed into the ground to allow them to be covered over after use and accessed for future events.
